In the relentless battle against Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR), collaboration is the key to success. On Wednesday, 30th August, 2023, the AMR Knowledge Hub of The Global Health Network hosted a landmark event, bringing together professionals from diverse disciplines to confront the looming threat of AMR. This online gathering, held on Zoom, provided a unique platform for AMR collaborators across Africa to exchange ideas, share experiences, and forge partnerships aimed at eradicating AMR.

The meeting was designed to foster networking, knowledge sharing, and collaborative discussions with a focus on addressing the challenges posed by AMR in Africa. All Africa-based members of the TGHN AMR Hub 'Collaborator Map’ were invited to participate.

Participants delved into the critical importance of adopting a One Health perspective, emphasizing the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental health in the fight against AMR. This holistic approach ensures a comprehensive understanding of the multifaceted challenges posed by AMR and encourages joint efforts to mitigate its impact.

Background of Participants:
Attendees hailed from various professional backgrounds, including clinical pathology, research, policy development, pharmacy regulation, and more. Their diverse experiences and expertise enriched the discussions, shedding light on the unique challenges faced in different regions. From clinical pathologists working on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for AMR detection to researchers advocating for the One Health approach, the event united voices committed to driving change.

The AMR Collaborators Meet & Greet Event witnessed a robust exchange of ideas, experiences, and strategies among professionals dedicated to combating AMR. This meeting served as a pivotal moment in fostering cooperation across borders and disciplines, marking a significant step towards a future free of Antimicrobial Resistance.
